Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How do I join the club?
If you are a undergraduate student at Stony Brook University, you will be recognized as a member once you hand in the liability waiver that you can obtain in the form section to one of the executive board members. I am sorry that graduate student cannot join the club because this is a USG funded club, but you may still come by and check it out. You can easily find us by going to any one of the practices or meetings.
  2. Are there any fees to shoot with the club?
No, there is no fee to shoot with us. As an undergraduate student at SBU, you are all paying the student activity fees as part of the tuition. We will not ask you to pay twice since USG is funding us with part of the student activity fee.
  3. Do I need my own equipment?
No, the club provides intermediate level olympiad recurve equipment. If you have your own equipment, that will be great. Most of our regular members owns their own equipment due to the fact that customize equipment does provide significantly better scores. We also lend out equipment to some regular members who shoot with us very often.
  4. Do I have to have previous experience on Archery?
No. We have members that are level-3 certified archery instructor. Our more senior members will help out the new members and teach them how to shoot properly.
  5. Do I have to stay for the whole meeting/practice?
Yes and no. You may come and leave as you please for any of the on-campus meeting/practices. The only event you will have to stay for the whole time is the off-campus practice/tournament.
